Parish Birthdays – Happy Birthday if you’re celebrating this week! We cannot access the Birthday list in the parish office – apologies! But all the ministry team wish you all the very best, even if you are celebrating under strange circumstances.
Parish Lock Down Scrap Book – it would be really good to have a record for the parish and for us, and our grandchildren’s grandchildren – about this strange time. So – please try to gather fragments – it could be a diary entry, a newspaper cutting, a quotation from scripture with some reflection, one of the orders of service for prayer at home, a photograph anything that’s been important to you in this time and that you’d be prepared to share …find a place to collect them. When we return to our buildings, we’ll have a place to gather them all in each church. We’ll create first an actual scrap book, but then hopefully a printed photobook as well. It’s something we can all be doing in what is actually a historically significant time!
Joint Open PCC and DCCs – Wednesday 20th May at 7pm - we are having an open meeting of the PCC. DCC members of any Church are particularly invited, but everybody is welcome. The purpose is to update you on parish finances, news about eventually reopening our buildings (if available) and the consultation about the new Bishop of Chelmsford. Link to join: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85350876572?pwd=dzdVSVdjbFl3dVNlSmtPTWM0OWhPZz09
Contact Rev Sue if you have trouble with the link, or the parish office if you need papers.
The consultation to appoint the new Bishop of Chelmsford has now begun. We will discuss this at the open PCC, but everyone is encouraged to express a view. The link to do so is here: https://chelmsdio.typeform.com/to/LMxWdl if you need a hard copy, please contact the parish office.

Worship in the Parish
- Bishop Peter has now written to all the clergy that, with the agreement of the church wardens, clergy may now begin to live stream services from their Churches. Quintin and John have resumed ‘live’ morning prayer at St Mary’s, and Fred is celebrating Mass in St Edmund’s; Sue is still in Scotland so will continue to live-stream from the living room for now, but is working with Marco so St Bart’s folk will be able to see the inside of the Church, at least digitally, ASAP!
- Eucharist Live Streamed on the Facebook Page from the Rectory –
- Thursdays at 12.15 (sometimes midday prayer from inside St bart’s)
- Sundays at 11am both Services at: https://www.facebook.com/PHTEastHam/?ref=bookmarks
Annual Meetings: The deadline for Annual Meetings has been extended to 31st October. Once it is clear how things are going to play out, a date will be set for our meetings. Everyone already in post stays in post till the Annual Meetings. Deanery Synod reps elected in 2017 will still in office until 30th November 2020, and will therefore comprise the electorate for the House of Laity of the General Synod.
Parish Giving Scheme: around one third of the Parish Share is met by planned giving. We obviously cannot collect cash at the moment, so please consider giving by Direct Debit using the Parish Giving Scheme. You can sign up by telephone and the details are here - https://www.parishgivingscheme.org.uk/ The PGS code for this parish is 080608100.
