In Our Prayers:

In the Diocese: Give thanks for the work and ministries of our hospices who bring comfort and relief to patients in times of physical and spiritual need and stress. Pray for our hospice chaplains.

In the Anglican Communion: The Diocese of Ife (Ibadan, Nigeria)

In the world: for those involved in the Brexit negotiations that they will remember their commitment to common good and protect the weak.

With Christian Aid:  All involved with the Voice to the People project in Nigeria. Pray that this project will make sure the poorest get the services they need and deserve.

In the Parish: those who live in Norman Road, Oakfield Road,

Outram Road.

Parish Birthdays – Happy Birthday Jean McCluskey & Dennis (D.J)

St Mary’s We welcome the family of Bob Stokes to church this morning. His ashes will be buried at the end of the service.

Thank you to all who helped open St Mary’s church last Saturday for Open House weekend. Dennis was particularly busy with tours of the church. June and the team provided wonderful refreshments too.

Scaffolding You will see that some of the scaffolding has been removed at St Mary’s. We hope the job will be finished in two weeks

McLeod Ashton RIP. Mr Ashton’s funeral will be at St Bart’s on Friday

5 October at 10am. All welcome. Please continue to keep Lorraine, Pat and all the family in your prayers.

Harvest Festival Sunday 7 October Donations of tinned or dried foods welcome, to be shared between the Food Bank at Bonny Downs and RAMP.

Intercessory Prayer Group will meet today at St Bart’s after the morning service – all welcome.

Quiet Day at Haggerston is next Saturday 6 October from 10.30am – 2pm. Those able to offer a lift or needing a lift please meet at St Mary’s at 9.30am. The most straight forward way to Haggerston Priory is by public transport however. Overground to Hoxton Station.18 Queensbridge Road London E2 8NS

Please bring your own lunch and a donation. Sign up at the back of church if you would like to come.

Autumn Study Days at St Bart’s - we have two very exciting study days in October - 4th Oct - Malcolm Brown, Seeking the Welfare of the City Left, Right or Centre? Finding a Christian voice in partisan politics & 25th Oct Richard Peers - Director of Education in the Liverpool Diocese, Seeking the Welfare of the City through Education. Cost is £10 including lunch for each study day. Please book through the Parish Office or Café.

St Bart’s It’s September, so it’s nearly Christmas.  Last year at Barts we had a ‘from all of us to all of us’ Christmas card wall rather than sending lots of cards, and everyone who used it gave a donation to charity.  Last year we ‘twinned our toilets’ - if you would like to suggest a charity to support this year, please contact the parish office.

Autumn Notes An evening of solos, quartets, poems and more ! 13th October from 3.30pm to 5.30pm at St Bart’s.  Adults £5, Children £2, under 12 free.  All proceeds towards Christian Aid.  Tickets from Irene, Philip John or Parish Office.

Christmas Journey Faith in Schools is again running Christmas Journey at St George’s, East Ham 17/18 December & needs volunteers to make drinks, guide the children, welcome people & lead in song. On the Way new course starting in January 2019 on Tues evenings 7.30- 9pm at St John’s Stratford.  If you’d like to join, please speak to Rev Sue.
