Meeting the Risen Christ
Over the next few weeks we will hear again the Gospel evidence of Our Lord's resurrection. The stories are not necessarily linked and are quite random.
For a period of several weeks Jesus appeared before his Ascension in a series of episodes which biblical scholars and theologians have reflected on and analysed ever since.
But there are some common aspects to these stories which can help us to rediscover the risen Christ as we journey through Easter as his pilgrim people.
1. Often we see the risen Christ in the most unexpected places
It's not only in church that we see the work of our risen Lord in action!
2. Jesus speaks to us but it is not always clear that it is him
He speaks to us through others and only afterwards do we realise it was Him.
3. He reminds us of the great symbols of our faith
In a handshake, the eating of bread, in an embrace or sign of caring - Jesus is revealed
4. In the sacraments, our risen Lord is there
As at the lakeside when he meets up with his disciples who are fishing they recognise him in the breaking of the bread.
He is risen!
We will see him all around us and experience his risen power in the most unexpected of ways.,
HAPPY EASTER FROM ALL OF US TO EACH OF YOU
