Bart's Cafe on Barking Road, East Ham is putting up posters and spreading the encouraging people struggling with their heating bills to come in and keep warm as the weather turns colder.

The Cafe, part of a complex which also houses a church and doctors' surgery, is open on weekdays from 10am until late into the afternoon and offers a place where people can keep warm, enjoy hot drinks, buy food at reasonable prices and meet new friends.

"We are aware that people are increasingly making choices about whether to spend money on heating or eating and Bart's Cafe is providing a space where people who don't have disposable income to provide proper heating can come during the day and relax and feel at home," said East Ham Team Rector, Rob Marshall this week.

The Cafe has a lunch club every Monday and people meet to play board games every Friday afternoon.

But there are also many other activities for people of all ages in the Centre every week.

"Ultimately Bart's is a Church for everyone and people of all faiths and non feel it is a space where the can come in and be themselves. As heating bills, rise we hope that more and more people will come along and feel at home with us," Father Marshall added.
