Christian Aid Week 2013
Yesterday, we had a wonderful concert to raise money for Christian Aid. At the back of the churches there will also be today an extra plate for any more donations to this great cause.
Why Christian Aid?
I now quote from the Christian Aid website ‘Christian Aid is an agency of the churches in Britain and Ireland that works around the world with those in need.We work with anyone who needs help, regardless of faith or nationality.
We provide emergency assistance where there is great need. For example, our partners were working to distribute aid 30 minutes after the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami struck.
Tackling the root causes of poverty.
Christian Aid also tackles the effects of poverty at its root causes - for example, companies fail to pay the taxes owed to the countries where they work.
Working through partners.
Christian Aid works with and through partners overseas: churches, ecumenical bodies, local non-governmental organisations and movements who have common values and competence in poverty eradication.
An organisation doing some excellent work around the world. Let us give it our support through prayer, money and in particular our musical talents. Quintin

It was super to enjoy this parish-wide celebration as well as seeing friends from other churches present.
Particular thanks to June for providing the refreshments.
Next Sunday in both of our churches we will celebrate the Holy Spirit who comes upon the church and ask for his blessing on our mission.
