St Ed’s A great big thank you to all who generously supported the Christmas Party at St Edmund’s on Friday 4th January.  Thanks to all involved in the organizing the party but in particular to the chef, to Ann who managed the bar and to Alison and Ed. 

St Bart’s first DCC of 2019 will be after todays service in the Luke Room.  Sue will be back from St Mary’s so will start the meeting when she’s back.

St Mary’s first DCC of 2019 will be on Wednesday at 7.30pm in the Parish Room.

Ordinand Placement Ajennie Subaran an Ordinand based at St Emmanuel Forest Gate starts a placement with us today. She will be with us until early February do some liturgical stuff at services and attending meetings and events.  Do say hello and make her feel welcome.

Cafe News Pick & Mix Tuesday is Bingo this week.  Chair based exercise is in it’s new regular slot of 10.15am on a Thursday morning and is followed by Knit & Natter.  All are welcome !

Leave Rev Sue is on leave from 17th – 22nd January.  All service next Sunday are covered.  For pastoral matters please contact Fred or John for practical matters please contact the Parish Office.

Next Sunday 20 January to allow us to cover all the services, St Edmund’s service will start at 9.45am “when the bus arrives”.  Thank you for your understanding.

Next Bible Study The next Bible Study will be at Bart’s on Wednesday 23rd January at 1.30pm. Everyone welcome.  We are working our way through Acts at the moment, but are always happy to consider other suggestions.

Burns Night Supper on Burn’s Night Friday 25th January ! Once again, we will be having a Parish celebration of Burn’s Night at St Bart’s. An evening of dancing, music & merriment along with a traditional supper of Haggis, neeps & tatties Tickets £15 available from the parish office, or Irene at St Barts, Claudette at St Mary’s.  Tickets are selling fast – so don’t delay !

St Mary’s A great big thank you to all who came along and prepared the Church for Christmas. It looks beautiful.

After the service today, we will be preparing the Christingles with Claudette.

Please come and join us for tea and coffee as we will be drawing the Grand Christmas Raffle !  Many thanks to Terry who sponsored the star prize.

30 December we welcome to the joint New Year Covent service our friends from High Street South Methodist Church.

Quintin's Sabbatical 2019 Many of you will know I will be taking an extended study leave for three months from the beginning of January 2019. The parish has been very kind in helping me make this possible and I am also indebted to John and Sue for taking on the pastoral responsibilities at St Mary’s. 

I will be studying at both Birkbeck College, University of London and St George's College, Jerusalem. I am very excited that this will be my first visit to the Holy Land. I am look forward to seeing the historical sites as well as interacting with Muslim and Jewish leaders. I know that this time to study will help me in my ministry and certainly you will be hearing all about my experiences through my sermons!    Quintin

Carol singing at Hedgerow Court & Manor Farm on Christmas Eve Fr Fred and Shirley will be going to Hedgerow Court at 11am and Manor Farm at 3pm on Christmas Eve.  Please be at either venue (or both) just before these times for easier access.

St Edmund’s Christmas Party will be on FRIDAY 4th January 2019 at 7pm. All are welcome !

Bart’s cafe will be closed until Monday 7th January 

Although the café is closed, Andrew and Shirley will open the doors on 3rd & 4th January for those of you who might be going stir crazy in the New Year and appreciate a bit of company.  Hot drinks will be served from around 12pm till 2pm and we’ll be having the usual scrabble club on Friday 4th. So please feel free to drop in for a cuppa and wish us a happy New year if you’re at a loose end.

In the world: for the Stansted 15 disproportionately sentenced at Chelmsford Crown Court for a peaceful protest drawing attention to charter flights being used to deport failed asylum seekers.

With Christian Aid: Give thanks for our work in Lebanon for over 30 years. Pray for the work of our partners with those who have been twice displaced, from Palestine and then from Syria.

St Mary’s Thanks to all who came along and helped to clean the Church yesterday ready for Christmas. It looks wonderful. We will be preparing the Christingles after next Sunday’s service.

CSI Carol Concert many thanks to all who performed at and attended the carol concert on Sunday.  Also, special mention to those who prepared and served the delicious meal afterwards. 

Christmas Lu

Carol singing at Hedgerow Court and Manor Farm on Christmas Eve Fr Fred and Shirley will be going to Hedgerow Court at 11am and Manor Farm at 3pm on Christmas Eve armed with Fred’s ‘Music Box’ and carol sheets. Carol Concert The CSI Malayalam Congregation invites you to 'Come and Adore Bethlehem's Treasure' a Christmas carol recital TODAY at 3.30pm.  All are Welcome – free entry.

School Visits  We welcome Latham Junior School to St Mary’s this week.

St Mary’s Cleaning and preparation morning on Saturday 15th December between 10 and 1pm.  Mulled wine and mince pies as a reward for those who can come !

Quiz Night at St Bart’s on Thursday 13th December @ 6.30pm.  Tickets are now available - £8 per person with supper included. Either come as a team or come along and make up a new team ! All are welcome.

Rectory Party Friday 14th December at 7.30pm - All are welcome.

Christmas Lunch St Bart’s Christmas lunch will be on Tuesday 18th December @ 1pm, cost is £12.  Tickets are now available via the café or parish office.

St Edmund’s Christmas Party will be on 4th January 2019.  All are welcome !

Audrey Honey Audrey’s funeral will take place on 12 December 2018 at 12:45 at Forest Park Crematorium, Hainault. No flowers please, donations to Macular Society.  Andrew & Shirley would be happy to drop off any donations as they’re attending the funeral.
