Baptism at St Bart’s today we welcome the family of Temisan Joshua Ndubisi Amorighoye (Sam’s grandson) for his baptism. Please keep Temisan and his family in your prayers at this special time.

Prim and Terry would like to thank everybody at St. Mary’s for making Sunday 30 Sept such a very happy day for them, and for the lovely flowers that were sent.

Sunday 20 October we are keeping as St Luke’s tide. There will a healing service with compline at St Bart’s at 7.30pm. All welcome.

Deanery Synod meeting is 16 October at St Paul, East Ham, Burgess Road at 7.30pm. All are welcome whether Deanery Synod or not. We are beginning the conversation about new structures for the church in this Deanery.

Autumn Notes an afternoon of Solos, Quartets, Poems and More ! Saturday 19th October at 3pm – 4.30pm at St Bart’s. The concert will be followed by a Harvest Supper. Tickets available from the Parish office. Adults £5, Students £2, children under 12 free. All proceeds go to NEWway Project (Night Shelter). Join us for a fun afternoon whilst supporting a worthy cause.

Bible Study We are holding our next BIBLE STUDY on Monday 28th October at 11.30am. This day and time worked well last time, so we’re trying it again! Please invite others you know.  They don’t have to be Parish Members or even Church goers. The more we have, the more regularly we can hold meetings.

Concert of music composted by and in memory of Francis Bassett the concert will be on Saturday 9 November at 7.30pm at St Barnabas Church, Browning Rd, E12 6PB. Entrance free, donations to charities supply by Francis are invited.

Baptism at St Mary’s today we are having a baptism at St Mary’s for Leonardo Janjcicay. We welcome Leonardo, his family and friends and all who have come to support him.

Harvest Festival today – thank you for all donations. We will be supporting Newham Foodbank and RAMP.

St Mary’s Philippa King who was doing some artwork in St Mary’s church over the summer is showing the product of her labors in the church hall at coffee time after the service.

Also after coffee we are celebrating Prim and Terry’s 60th Wedding Anniversary with cake and wine.

Very sadly, over the next two weeks we say goodbye to our Church Warden, Katy, who is going to Dubai to work.

Gardener required We’re looking for someone to help tend the Memorial Garden at St Mary’s. Interested? Please contact Quintin or John Hedges.

Maureen Harsant who was a long-term resident at Bart’s Court and well known to many of us. Her funeral will be held at 10am tomorrow, 7 October at Manor Park Crematorium, Sebert Road E7 0NP. Reception afterwards at St Bart’s.

Portuguese Service start today ! Every Sunday at 3pm at St Martin’s, Plaistow. This is an Anglican Eucharist (common worship) in Portuguese aimed at Portuguese/Spanish speakers – but all are welcome !

Thank you to all who came to Chelmsford for Marco’s ordination and we welcome him today at St Barts as he starts his ordained ministry with us. Please join us after the service for refreshments in the café.

Thank you to all who attended the Barn Dance last Saturday. We all enjoyed a lovely evening of music, dancing and a good ploughmans. We raised £500 of which a 10% donation will be sent to Newham Food Bank and the balance used towards Café activities.

Open House London 21st September 2019 St Mary’s  It’s nearly Open house weekend again. We usually have lots of visitors so any help you can give to show people around, make cups of tea, tidy up afterwards would be muchappreciated. To volunteer, please r speak to Dennis or June.

Congratulations and best wishes to Shaun & Jackie Brooker on their marriage yesterday at St Mary’s.

Quiet Day Thanks to John for leading the quiet day yesterday. All went well, it was a lovely day.

Café News Pick and Mix Tuesday this week brings us Jewellery Making with Shelley. This week we’ll be using glass pearls to make a piece of your choice. Starting at 1pm – all are welcome.

A Chance to Feedback your Experience at your GP surgery

at St Bart’s on Thurs 19th Sept between 11am and 1pm.

Community Links has been commissioned by the Newham Health Collaborative to carry out surveys to gain GP patient experience feedback from across Newham. aim to sample a minimum of 20 patients from each practice over the next 9 months. We hope to gather valid and genuine feedback and to explore some of the issues that patients might be more reluctant to discuss directly with their practice. Surveys should take around 5 mins to complete.

The Sultan and the Saint film show on Saturday 21 September at St Bart’s at 3.30pm. 2019 is the 800th anniversary of St Francis of Assisi and the Sultan of Egypt meeting unarmed on one of the bloodiest battlefields of the crusades to try to find common ground and prevent a humanitarian disaster. This film show, organized jointly with some of our local friends from the local mosque, will be followed by food and a conversation about what we can learn from these two men of faith for today’s world. All welcome.
