Parish Birthdays – Happy Birthday to Crystal Balogun and Adebola Daramola

This afternoon the Church of South India Carol Service at 3.30pm followed by a fellowship meal at St Bart’s.  We look forward to welcoming Archdeacon Elwin as preacher.  All are welcome.

Book Club the next meeting will be on Monday 11th December (tomorrow) at 2pm and will feature The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman – part 1 of 2.

Mulled wine and mince pies at St Mary’s on 16 Dec between 10am and 1pm as we prepare the church for our Christmas celebrations.  All welcome.

St Mary’s Final chance to get a rota or calendar at the back of Church.

St Mary’s we will be putting together the Christingles on Wednesday 20th after the Eucharist – all welcome to help - many hands make light work !

St Bart’s is in need of people willing to undertake Sunday and possibly week day sacristan duties.  On Sundays this entails arriving by 9.15 at the latest and setting up for the Eucharist.  Full training will be given.

St Bart’s Christmas Card thank you all for taking the Christmas cards left at the back of church last week.  Rather than sending each other cards, this year we thought it might be nice to send just one card to everyone at church and then make a donation to a charity.  We would like to twin our toilets at St Bart’s through a charity called Toilet Twinning - https://www.toilettwinning.org. 

There is a noticeboard at the back of church/in the café for you to pin a card to along with a collection box for donations.  It costs £60 to twin a single toilet and £240 to twin a block of toilets.

St Mary’s Children’s nativity performance will take place during 10am Eucharist on 17th December and the 5pm service on 24th December.

St Bart’s has appointed Steve Paul as Site Supervisor.  Steve started work on 5 December, Bill is recovering well following an operation.  Please keep him in your prayers... 

We say farewell to Bill properly on 21 December – please drop in between 4 and 7pm to raise a glass to wish Bill well in his retirement. If you wish to contribute to Bill’s leaving gift, please let the office know.

St Edmund’s Christmas Party will be on 6th January.  Tickets are now available in all churches or from the office.  £5 if bought in advance or £7 on the door – all are welcome !

Toy Collection Point St Bart’s we will be a collection point for the Newham Recorder Toy Appeal this year. Please donate if you’re able. 

St Bart’s Café Dates:

Christmas lunch is 19th December 2017 at 1pm - £10.  Tickets for the lunch are selling fast ! Book with Sue in the Café to ensure you don’t miss out.  Friday 22nd December will be freebie Friday in the Café.  Pot luck lunch to use up left overs before we close for the Christmas holidays.

St Mary’s are having a Christmas Raffle which will be drawn on 17th December.  The top prize is a £50 M&S voucher !  Tickets on sale from this Sunday in the church hall.

St Barts Training for intercessors and altar servers has been arranged - so save the dates.  If you are already involved in one of these or would like to start, please come along.  Speak to Rev Sue for details.  Both are on Sundays from 11.15 to 12 noon; 7th January, 28st January.


PCC meeting is 23 January 2018 at 7.30 pm – venue to be confirmed.

St Bart’s DCC meeting is 21 January 2018 at 11.45 am in the Luke Room.

St Mary’s DCC meeting is 10 January 2018 at 7.30 pm in the Parish room

St Edmunds’s DCC meeting is on 24 January 2018 at 7.30 pm.
