Informal Prayer Lent 1. TODAY at Bart’s. An informal time of prayer after the Eucharist. An opportunity to light a candle and pray with others for anything on your heart. All Welcome.

Parish Bible Study St Bart's at 4pm TODAY. We will study John 3, v 1-17. All are welcome. Please bring your bible.

St Edmund’s Saturdays in Lent. 11.30 Lent Reflection on 4th, 11th and 18th March. Mass (including the Angelus) at 12 noon. Simple lunch at 12.30 cost £1.50 in aid of the Bishop’s Lent Appeal.

Deanery Confirmation Service this evening 6.30pm at St Paul’s. 3 candidates from out Church of South india congregation are being confirmed. Please come along and support them if you can.

Lent at St Mary’s.  During Lent, for many years at St.Marys we have had a series of talks from members of the congregation who share briefly their faith and how they see God in their work or retirement! I know from the feedback this has been greatly enjoyed. Sadly,this year we will have to have a much shortened series because of way Lent has fallen. Priscilla, our organist, has kindly agreed to talk about her faith. John is also doing a sermon where he will need willing or unwilling volunteers to write some feedback for his ordination course.

Monday 6th of March at 7:30, Paul Whitnall will be holding a discussion meeting for all Lay people in the Deanery (not just Deanery Synod Reps) at St Paul’s Church, Stratford, about all the proposed developments happening in Newham Churches. Join us to find out about the exciting changes. Hosted by Jeremy Fraser, Area Dean.

Being a Parent Course. Thursday’s 10.00am – 11.45am in the Luke Room at Bart’s. A free course for parents of children aged 9-16.

Our Parish Administrator, Brenda, is retiring on 31st March. Brenda has served this parish for over 20 years, and for 11 in her current role and we will miss her, but wish her and her family every happiness as this new stage of life unfolds. We are having a party to send Brenda off in style on March 30th. More about the appointment process for the administrator role as it unfolds - watch this space!

Bishop Stephen’s Discipleship Event. 15th March 7.30pm at All Saints Forest Gate. Each Church is asked to send 6 representatives but all are welcome.

ANNUAL MEETINGS (APM & APCM). 23rd April. The Electoral roll revision notices go up today, and the roll revision begins in 2 weeks, the roll closes on 2nd April. If you live in the Parish or attend church regularly, you are entitled to go on the roll and you need to be on it to stand for PCC, Church Wardens or Deanery Synod Rep. Please check! Consider prayerfully if you are called to stand for any of these roles. This year is Deanery Synod elections and under the new formula agreed by the Diocesan Synod we have 3 vacancies for Deanery Synod Reps.

ST BART’S ROAD CAR PARK. The barriers have been returned to the manufacturers. Please bear with us until they have been re-installed.

STUBBERS. Booking now open 30th June – 2nd July. Forms available from the Parish Office. Please note we are operating a deposit system this year.

BART’S CAFÉ. Study Day March 16th ‘Practical Church Management’ led by Ian Simpson, Heritage Support Office, Liverpool Diocese. £10 including lunch and a copy of a manual & guide. Book via Sue in the café or the Parish Office.

Marion McCauley’s (Priest) funeral will be held on 28th Feb at 11.30 at All Saints - a Requiem Mass with the Bishop of Barking presiding. All welcome - people are advised to arrive early.

The funeral of Valerie Coleman, who was a long standing member of the Parish, will be held on Wednesday 1st March 2.30pm at the City of London Crematorium. Refreshments will be provided in Bart’s Café afterwards.

Revd Marion McCauley’s funeral will be held on 28th Feb at 11.30 at All Saints - a Requiem Mass with the Bishop of Barking presiding. All welcome - people are advised to arrive early.

We were saddened to hear of the death of Valerie Coleman who was a long standing member of the Parish. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday 1st March 2.30pm at the City of London Cemetery & Crematorium.

A celebratory memorial service will be held for Tony Howell at St Mary’s on Saturday 25th February at 1.00pm. Please wear bright colours. Refreshments will be available in the church hall afterwards.

The Licensing of Fr Fred as Associate Minister is taking place this Tuesday 7th February 7.30pm at St Edmund’s by The Archdeacon of West Ham, Venerable Elwin Cockett. All Welcome. Fred was welcomed in his role of Pastoral oversight at St Edmund’s 2 years ago. His service at the time was a public welcome but legally he had Bishop’s Permission to Officiate. We are now legally & formally recognizing his ministry by Licensing him to the Parish and publicly celebrating his Ministry amongst us.

BIBLE STUDY TODAY 4.00pm at Bart’s. We will read and discuss Matthew 5: 21-37. All Welcome. Please bring your bible.

A Memorial Service will be held for Tony Howell at St Mary’s on Saturday 25th February at 1.00pm.

Brenda has served this parish for over 20 years, and for 11 in her current role and we will miss her, but wish her and her family every happiness as this new stage of life unfolds.  We are having a party to send Brenda off in style on March 30th. ANNUAL MEETINGS (APM & APCM). 23rd April. Reports for inclusion in the annual meeting to the Parish Office asap please. The annual electoral roll revision will begin 4th March completed by 1st April.

ST BART’S ROAD CAR PARK. Work on replacing the barriers has begun. This may cause problems with illegal parking. Please bear with us until the new barriers have been installed.

STUBBERS. Booking opens this week for Stubbers. 30th June – 2nd July. Forms are available from the Parish Office. Please note we are operating a deposit system this year.

BART’S CAFÉ. Last chance to book for the Study Day on 9th February.
