Holy Week this week – see separate leaflet with details of services this week. Please note there is no service at 12.30 on Thursday at St. Bart’s. The normal pattern of services resumes next week.

After the service today the St Mary Magdalene children who are receiving first communion will have a practice at St Bart’s.

Please pray for Charli-Mae Ellett who will be baptized on Saturday night and also for first communion on Sunday, Charli-Mae Ellet, Zach Harding and Jasmine Nanatovu.

There will be a funeral at St Mary’s at 1.30 p.m. on 20th April.

St Bart’s Café - normal opening from Monday to Wednesday. Thursday – café closes at 2 p.m. Closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. Normal opening hours from Tuesday 18th April.

Preparing for Easter at St Mary’s and St Bart’s. Saturday 15th April 10.00am – 12.00noon work days in preparation for Easter at both churches. There will be hot cross buns for all who come along to help out. If you are coming to St Mary’s and driving in from outside the parking zone can you let June know so she can give you a parking permit.

BYE BYE FROM BRENDA. I would like to say a BIG BIG thank you for all the gifts, cards & good wishes I have received on my retirement. A fantastic party was held for me last Thursday, It was great to see so many friends there. A big thank you to Sue & Jackie for the wonderful catering, also to Ed & May for the entertainment – Britains Got Talent next? I will miss you all but will be back to see you all soon. lots of love. ANNUAL MEETINGS (APM & APCM). 23rd April at St Mary’s joint service immediately following the Eucharist. There will be elections for Church and parish wardens, PCC & DCC and Deanery Synod Rep. Consider prayerfully if you are called to stand for any of these roles – fill in a form at the back of church. This year is Deanery Synod elections and under the new formula agreed by the Diocesan Synod we have 3 vacancies for Deanery Synod Reps.

Audit PCC on 6th April – The annual report and audited accounts were presented at the Audit PCC on 6 April and will be available before the APCM. Watch this space !

ST BART’S ROAD CAR PARK. The barriers have been reinstalled.

PCC and DCC DATES.

There will be a brief PCC meeting immediately following the annual meetings to elect officers and the first PCC meeting after that will be 7 June, venue to be confirmed. St Bart’s next DCC has been moved to Sunday 7th May 11.45am in the Luke Room.

St Bart’s Informal Prayer Group

If you are unable to join us for the session, but have a prayer request, please either pin it on the prayer board or hand it to Shirley or any other member of the group. We have a busy few weeks, so date and time of the next session is to be confirmed. Watch this space !

In the world: those affected by the famine in East Africa and those who continue to suffer in Syria.

With Christian Aid: Pray for the Christian Aid team in Ethiopia and their country manager Yitna Tekaligne. Give thanks for the hope the Ethiopia Appeal brought to those facing the worst drought in three decades last year, for the schoolchildren who were fed, and the safe drinking water and emergency supplies provided to the most vulnerable families.

If you live in the Parish or attend church regularly, you are entitled to go on the roll and you need to be on it to stand for PCC, Church Wardens or Deanery Synod Rep. Please check! Consider prayerfully if you are called to stand for any of these roles. This year is Deanery Synod elections and under the new formula agreed by the Diocesan Synod we have 3 vacancies for Deanery Synod Reps.

We are celebrating Mothering Sunday today. Flowers will be handed out to all Mother’s this morning at St Mary’s. These have been very kindly donated by Jon’s Florist in Vicarage Lane who St Mary’s have a long relationship with. Thank you to them.

There will be a retiring collection for the Disasters Emergency Committee of which Christian Aid is a member, for the those affected by the famine in East Africa. The government has agreed to match donations.

Sadly,this year we will have to have a much shortened series because of way Lent has fallen. John is doing a sermon where he will need willing or unwilling volunteers to write some feedback for his ordination course.

Being a Parent Course. Thursday’s 10.00am – 11.45am in the Luke Room at Bart’s. A free course for parents of children aged 9-16.

Our Parish Administrator, Brenda, is retiring on 31st March. Brenda has served this parish for over 20 years, and for 11 in her current role and we will miss her, but wish her and her family every happiness as this new stage of life unfolds. We are having a party to send Brenda off in style on March 30th 6.00pm – 9.30pm. For catering purposes could you please let June at St Mary’s, Alison at St Edmund’s or Shirley at St Bart’s know if you are coming along. Bishop Stephen’s Discipleship Event. 15th March 7.30pm at All Saints Forest Gate. Each Church is asked to send 6 representatives but all are welcome.

The Greatfield Spring Market returns, Saturday 25th March at St George & St Ethelbert's Church, Burford Road E6 3NQ, 11am – 2pm. Lots of stalls selling handmade gifts, cards, plants, jams, chutneys & pickles and much more. Have a cup of tea and (homemade) cake or lunch, and chat with your neighbours in our friendly cafe. 

ANNUAL MEETINGS (APM & APCM). 23rd April. The roll revision begins next week and closes on 2nd April. If you live in the Parish or attend church regularly, you are entitled to go on the roll and you need to be on it to stand for PCC, Church Wardens or Deanery Synod Rep. Please check! Consider prayerfully if you are called to stand for any of these roles. This year is Deanery Synod elections and under the new formula agreed by the Diocesan Synod we have 3 vacancies for Deanery Synod Reps.

PCC & DCC DATES.

PCC Pre APCM Audit Meeting scheduled for 23rd March is postponed. It will be held w/c 3rd April – watch this space.

St Edmund’s DCC 29th March 7.30pm.

St Bart’s next DCC has been moved to Sunday 7th May 11.45am in the Luke Room.

EXPERIENCE EASTER. Last week’s event went very well and was enjoyed by the children. Tuesday 14th March is the last one. We need between 5 & 10 volunteers. Sandwich lunch & briefing at 12 noon. Workshops for YR2 children from 1- 3.15pm. If you can spare an hour or more within those times please speak to Rev Sue or let the office know.
