St Mary’s please collect your Christmas cards from the back of Church, they will be thrown away in the next week.  Also, please collect your planned giving envelopes from the back of Church.  If anyone does want an envelope for the year, please speak to June.

St Bart’s is in need of people willing to undertake Sunday and possibly week day sacristan duties.  On Sundays this entails arriving by 9.15 at the latest and setting up for the Eucharist.  Full training will be given.

St Bart’s Christmas Card thank you for the donations received so far for the Toilet Twinning https://www.toilettwinning.org.  It’s not too late to donate, please give any donations to the Parish Office when it re-opens.

Burns Night on 20 January we will be celebrating Burns Night at St Bart’s with a traditional meal, entertainment & ceilidh. Tickets are £15 each and are on sale now !

St Barts Training for intercessors and altar servers has been postponed.  Watch this space for new dates

St Edmund’s next weeks Sunday service (14 Jan) will start at 9.45am to allow Fr Fred to cover at St Martin’s at 11am.

PCC and DCC DATES.

PCC meeting is 23 January 2018 at 7.30 pm – Canon Jeremy Fraser Area dean and Canon Lynne Bennett Lay chair of Having deanery will be in attendance to present on Greater London Authority development money for the Deanery Building Scheme.  This has direct implications for St Bart’s so the meeting will be held there.  It will also be an open meeting i.e. all are welcome.

St Mary’s both Tina Preston and Marion Foote send their regards to all at St Mary’s when Quintin visited them this week.

St Edmund’s Congratulations to John and Stephanie who got married on the 17th of October this year. John’s family has been members of St Edmund’s Church for many years. We also wish to thank them both for the contribution they made to the upkeep of St Edmund’s Church and Centre.

St Bart’s Christmas Card thank you all for taking the Christmas cards left at the back of church last week.  Rather than sending each other cards, this year we thought it might be nice to send just one card to everyone at church and then make a donation to a charity.  We would like to twin our toilets at St Bart’s through a charity called Toilet Twinning - https://www.toilettwinning.org.  There is a noticeboard at the back of church/in the café for you to pin a card to along with a collection box for donations.  It costs £60 to twin a single toilet and £240 to twin a block of toilets.

St Mary’s Children’s nativity performance will take place during 10am Eucharist and the 5pm service on 24th December.  Particular thanks to Jean for co-ordinating.

St Bart’s has appointed Steve Paul as Site Supervisor.  Steve started work on 5 December, Bill is recovering well following an operation.  Please keep him in your prayers... 

We say farewell to Bill properly on 21 December – please drop in between 4 and 7pm to raise a glass to wish Bill well in his retirement. If you wish to contribute to Bill’s leaving gift, please let the office know.

This afternoon the Church of South India Carol Service at 3.30pm followed by a fellowship meal at St Bart’s.  We look forward to welcoming Archdeacon Elwin as preacher.  All are welcome.

Book Club the next meeting will be on Monday 11th December (tomorrow) at 2pm and will feature The Book of Dust by Philip Pullman – part 1 of 2.

St Mary’s this week we welcome Nevaeh-Marie and her family and friends for her baptism.  Please keep them in your prayers.

E6 churches Annual Advent Walk of Witness

We will be gathering opposite East Ham Station at 4.30pm TODAY. We then process down the High Street to St Bart’s Church for a short service and Advent reflection around 5.30pm led by Pastor Salomi Sukesh & Rev Sue Lucas. We will be singing Carols at various points along the route so do bring a torch, lantern or glow stick if able. All welcome.

Parish Christmas card detailing all the Christmas services are at the back of church.  Please help yourself – and take one to give to a friend/neighbour.

St Edmund’s on Friday 8th December there will be an 11.00am eucharist to commemorate the Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

St Barts have interviewed for a new site supervisor and made an offer of employment - full details once the paperwork is completed.  Also, if you wish to contribute to Bill’s leaving gift, please let the office know.

Bible Study The next parish Bible Study will take place at St Bart's on Wednesday 6th December at 1pm.  All welcome, please bring your bible.

The Greatfield Winter Market returns, with a huge array of stalls selling handmade gifts, cards, plants, jams, chutneys & pickles and more. You can have a cup of tea and (homemade) cake or lunch, and chat with your neighbours in our friendly cafe. The Market will be held on Saturday 9th December 2017 at St George and St Ethelbert's Church, Burford Road E6 3NQ between 11 am and 2 pm.
