Ash Wednesday Eucharist and ashing 10am at St Edmund’s and 6.30pm at St Mary’s on 14th February.  Rev Sue will be ashing passers-by outside St Bart’s during the day.

St Mary’s We need an additional DCC meeting after church on 18th February to discuss our latest proposals for painting the church.

Confirmation the next Deanery confirmation is on 13 May 2018.  We have one adult candidate at St Bart’s and will begin catechesis (confirmation preparation) on 18 February, next Sunday at 11.45 in the Rectory.  If you are interested in being confirmed please speak to one of the clergy.

Experience Easter is being run in St Bart’s for Nelson School on 20 & 27 February.  If you are willing and able to help please let the Parish Office know.  All are welcome.

Study Day at St Bart’s on 15th February 10am to 4pm Dr Frederic Nye, former Director of Medicine, Aintree University Hospital Trust and Reader Emeritas at St Faith, Great Crosby: Health, Wealth and Welfare: the tangled relationships between deprivation, ethnicity and health. Cost is £10.  Please book your place with the Parish Office.

Lent Group the parish lent group is going to take place on Wednesdays at 7.15pm in the hall at St Mary’s and at 2pm at Pilgrims Way Methodist Church.  As Ash Wednesday is 14th February we will be starting this group on 21st February – see flyer for full details.

inSpire Stratford AGM and Celebration on Tuesday 13 February at 7.30pm at St John’s Church, Stratford – this year with pancakes !

If you need an individual copy, please contact the Parish Office.  All are welcome at this meeting to ask questions etc. The accounts will be finalised after this meeting when the agree accounts will be published in the same way.  Please note there will be no further copies of the accounts or management accounts for the individual churches at the APCM.

First Communion at St Mary’s there have been a number of expressions of interest and we will have a meeting after church TODAY to agree the details.  If you know of anyone interested, please ask them to come along.

Burns Night Many thanks to EVERYONE who supported the Burns Night Supper by attending, playing, dancing, cooking, serving & addressing the event !  We raised an amazing £955 which has been evenly split between Crisis (in memory of Francis Bassett) and the Hall Kitchen fund. 

St Bart’s is in need of people willing to undertake Sunday and possibly week day sacristan duties.  On Sundays this entails arriving by 9.15 at the latest and setting up for the Eucharist.  Full training will be given.

St Mary’s the flowers in church this week are in memory of Ken McGrane’s mum and dad.

Next Sunday 21st is the start of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. Matthew Porter from Transform Newham will be preaching at St Bart’s, and Quintin will preach at High Street South Methodist Church after St Mary’s service and we welcome Nicola Vidamour to St Mary’s who will be celebrating with us. Sue is preaching at Evensong at Brasenose College Oxford, the historic patron of the parish. 

St Edmunds Many thanks to all who supported our Christmas Party last weekend – we raised £200.

St Bart’s Christmas Card a great big thank you for the donations received for the Toilet Twinning – we have been able to twin the loos at St Bart’s with a Central African Republic displacement camp.  Watch out for the certificate in our loo !

St Mary’s it was good to see Norman on Wednesday and he’s doing well !

Thank you to Colin and Jean for removing all the decorations at St Mary’s we’re leaving the Christmas tree up until the end of the Epiphany season.
