St Bart’s Intercessory Prayer Group will meet in the Lady Chapel after the service today.

St Mary’s There will be a meeting of the Christian Socialist Movement in the church at 7pm on Tuesday 19 June.

St Mary’s will be welcoming Year 2 from Sandringham School on Wednesday and Thursday.

Thank you to everyone who took part in Bob Stokes funeral on Friday – it seemed to go well.

Café News Tuesday 19 June at 1.30pm is Stitch with Chris – bring your own projects with you. All are welcome.

Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the arrival of the Empire Windrush in Tilbury Friday 22nd June at London Cruise Terminal Tilbury. Various different activities are planned to celebrate this anniversary.  Please see posters at the back of Church for details.

Parish Outing to Guildford Cathedral on Saturday 23rd June – Adults £25 Children £10.  Please see lists at the back of church.

Coach for John’s ordination We have only 6 seats remaining on the coach for Chelmsford on 15 September at £15 each.  If you wish to book, please contact the Parish Office.

Health Fair Event Stratford Town Hall  June 21st 11-3pm.

This event is being held by the Community Neighbourhood Link Worker team and the idea is for us to have a range of providers available on the day. The event is aimed at residents/customers to come along and find out information about different health providers, services and activities available. On the day we will have taster sessions of chair based exercise and Bollywood dancing. We will have providers who will be doing BP checks, eye health and hand massage. We will be facilitating round table discussions for an hour of the event where we will be collating and sharing information about different areas of health and social care and activities.

Stubbers 2018 We are delighted to report at all places for Stubbers 2018 are filled.  However, this is the last year that Stubbers will run in its present form and to mark this occasion and to thank John Marshall for his efforts over the past 17 years there will be a service of thanksgiving on Sunday 1st July at 1.30pm followed by a barbecue.  All past attendees, helpers and parents are invited to join us to celebrate.  If you would like to contribute to a gift for John or if you have any photographs from past Stubbers, please contact the Parish Office.

Raise the Roof – Saturday 30 June 2018 at 7.30pm at St John’s Stratford.  An evening of musical entertainment to raise funds for extensive repairs to this historic church.  The evening will feature Jazz, Classical Arias with special guests The Last Pirates – Tickets £5.

Saturday 15 September Introductory day for the diocesan Course in Christian Studies.  If you’re interested please speak to Rev Sue.

Finding a Christian voice in partisan politics

The Revd Dr Malcolm Brown has been Director of Mission and Public Affairs for the Archbishops’ Council since 2007, leading a team with responsibility for the Church of England’s engagement with political and social issues, Parliamentary affairs and enabling the church’s voice to be effective in national life. Prior to this, he was Principal of the Eastern Region Ministry Course in the Cambridge Theological Federation and Executive Secretary of the William Temple Foundation in Manchester, a think tank working on the connections between theology, economics and urban policy. He has also been a parish priest in inner city, city centre and suburban parishes. Malcolm’s doctoral work was on Christian ethics and market economics. He has taught ethics at undergraduate, Masters and doctoral levels for several universities and has published widely. He editedAnglican Social Theology(CHP) and published a textbook entitledTensions in Christian Ethics(SPCK, 2010) as well as contributing to many other publications.

Provisional pick up times are: 7.45am at St Mary’s and 8.00am St Bart’s

Itinerary

10:00             Holy Communion Service in the Lady Chapel

11:00             Talk and slide presentation on the Cathedral in the Café

                        Lasts for approximately 1 hour

12:00             Free time to look around the Cathedral or take a walk into town (approx. 15 mins walk)

15:00             Hand bell Service at the Cathedral - optional 

Order of service not available yet

16:00             Meet for coffee and cake in the Cathedral Café

17:00             Evening prayer

17:30             Depart Cathedral to return to East Ham

Same two drop off points – St Bart’s and St Mary’s

Cost is £25 for adults and £10 for under 16’s

Christian Aid Concert We raised an amazing £645 ! Once again, many thanks to all involved.
