Norman is having a trial stay at Manor Farm Home and it was lovely

to see him at last Sunday’s service.

Albert Davis is now back from hospital and recovering at home.

A BIG THANK YOU to all who put together St Edmund’s party last Saturday. It was a great success.

 

Our Parish Administrator, Brenda, has announced that she is retiring on 31st March. Brenda has served this parish for over 20 years, and for 11 in her current role and we will miss her, but wish her and her family every happiness as this new stage of life unfolds.  We are having a party to send Brenda off in style on March 30th. More about the appointment process for the administrator role as it unfolds - watch this space!

A total of £229.65 was raised at the Christingle service at St Mary’s on Christmas Eve.

St Bart’s updated Rota until Mothering Sunday is available today.

St Mary’s are drawing up a new rota. If you want to help out please sign up on the forms available at the back of Church.

Gillian Mayer reveals her favourite music. £7.50 for a 2 course dinner.

Study Day - 9th February - Canon Edward Carter, Canon Theologian at Chelmsford Cathedral - Just Economics?  Some theological reflections on economic justice drawing on scripture and tradition to reflect on the current situation £7.50 for the day including lunch.

Book for either of these events via Sue in the Café or the Parish Office.

Being a Parent Course. An 8 week course to help parents learn practical communication skills for everyday life & bring up confident, happy and co-operative children. Men’s Health and Exercise with the British Martial Arts and Boxing Association - 8th February at St Bart’s.  Open martial arts classes from 10.30am -12 noon and 1-30 till 3pm. Other activities to be confirmed - all welcome (including women!)  We are running this event in conjunction with the CCG and St Bart’s Surgery.

 

St Mary’s still have some calendars left at a cost of £4. They are at the back of Church.

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY TODAY.

St Mary’s the 10.00am service will be shortened so we can gather at the War Memorial at 11.00am.

St Bart’s 9.30am & St Edmund’s 9.00am – short said service then attend the Civic Act of Remembrance. Meet at 10.15am at the Town Hall to walk down to the Cenotaph in Central Park for a 10.55am start.

Rev Sue is away on a course next week but can be contacted in an emergency on her mobile.

We would love to know what the three favourite Christmas songs are in our Parish. The top ten will be sung at the Christmas Song Countdown Christmas Party. Forms will be available next week.

Full Hearts, Full Tummies at Christmas. Stratford Circus are giving 600 tickets to deprived children and their families to see a show and eat a hot meal. Your support will make some fantastic childhood memories, introduce children to the arts, fuel young imaginations & fill little tummies. You can help by offering donations. £20 pays for one seat & meal. £100 for a family. If you know of someone who’d benefit speak to Rev Sue.

Night Shelter NEWway Project will be organizing a volunteer-led winter night shelter for homeless adults in Newham. From the start of November 2016 until the end of March 2017. They will be providing a warm bed, nutritious meal & friendly company for up to 15 guests each night.
